The car we are going to travel with (and with which we already surrounded Africa in 2009) is a Mercedes short-nose 911 truck. We named it HENNES, which is the lucky charm of Patricks favorite socker club…

It is a former police truck, accordingly checked regularly (well, we hope so…) and had a milage of 30.000 before the trip in Africa. It is green (like hope) and now has a new cabin.

The cabin has been constructed and equipped by Koch Reisemobile (see links-section) and so far we have to admit: they did a very good job. Andreas Koch really knows, how to do construct a camper, has great ideas, is very creative and very practial. He even worked his weekends just to enable us to leave in time (we were a bit late, this is another story….). We can only recommend him, if you need someone helping you out.

All in all, we hope, the car will be “unbreakable”… he worked great through Africa, so we are positive!

  6. hi! great that you plan a trip like this. so the cabin has been fixed with an additional frame that has been affixed to the chasis of the truck. we have had this done by a company in germany, bocklet. between the normal frame of the truck and the additional frame there are springs. hope, this helps you. do you have a website? take care! cheers, katharina

  8. Hi,
I saw your truck today at Liberty Park across from Manhattan. I walked past with my dog but it looked like no one was home. I am a British American and studied at the university in Bonn and spent half my life in Germany. My son was “made in Bonn”. I saw your truck as we passed it on the highway and was really surprised to see it here with the FC Köln stickers. Maybe I’ll speak to you tomorrow. If not happy and safe travels!
